5 Crucial Questions To Ask Your Plastic Surgeon

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

So you’re thinking about plastic surgery? The first thing you should know is that plastic surgery is an investment. The plastic surgeon you choose can and will determine the outcome of your procedure. That’s why it’s imperative to choose a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon who can help you achieve the results you desire – safely. When shopping for a plastic surgeon, make sure to ask these 5 questions:

  1. Are you board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery? Are you a member of any other professional societies? Which ones?
  2. Where will my procedure be performed? Is the surgical facility accredited by one of the four major accrediting organizations? Do you have staff privileges at any local hospitals?
  3. What surgical procedure(s) would you recommend for me given my aesthetic goals? What should I expect as far as surgery and recovery are concerned?
  4. What are my alternatives, if any? Are there any trade-offs?
  5. Do you have recent experience with the procedure(s) you are recommending, and if so, to what extent? Do you have a portfolio of before-and-after photos of some of your patients?

Plastic surgery can be an exciting, life-altering experience. Don’t make a hasty decision when it comes to choosing a plastic surgeon. Shop around. Ask for references. Make sure that the surgeon you choose has the proper credentials and experience necessary to help you achieve optimal results!
