Top Surgeries in 2007

Friday, February 29th, 2008

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery recently reported that an estimated 11.7 million surgical and nonsurgical operations were performed in the United States in 2007.
They have supposedly been collecting procedural statistics since 1997 regarding plastic surgery in America and found that the number of procedures increased 457 percent since they began their investigation.
The Popularity of Breast Augmentation
According to the statistics gathered by the organization, liposuction and breast augmentation are the two most requested procedures by both men and women throughout the country.
2007, 399,440 Americans reportedly underwent breast augmentation surgery in just one year.
This procedure proved to be the most popular among women, while breast reduction ranked fourth on the list for the most popular procedures among men.

Helpful Surgery Tips

Seeing as plastic surgery is growing in popularity with Americans, doctors want to make sure that all necessary precautions are being taken by patients so that they get the best possible outcome from their surgery.
Some things to consider before having breast augmentation are:
•    Make sure that you have a board certified surgeon
•    Be sure that you aren’t going to have any more children
•    Research various types of implants, including shapes and sizes to make the best decision for your body

A Site for Free Implants

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

In recent years breast augmentation surgery has become more popular than ever for women worldwide.
However, like other common cosmetic procedures such as liposuction and Botox, many women are getting into a bind when it comes to their desire for surgery and the financial strains it may bestow upon them.
One website, which seems to be growing in popularity, claims they have found the answers for women who are looking to get implants but can’t afford the high costs of surgery.
Getting Implants, Free of Charge
Myfreeimplants.com is a San Francisco based internet company that was started by Jay Moore, who allegedly thought of the idea while trying to help his friend raise money for implants she wanted.
Since then, the company has taken off and now women across the country are registering on the site to raise money from supporters for their breast augmentation surgery.
Florida Resident Benefits
Jessica Levine, a 27-year-old resident of Florida, is one of the many Americans who wanted to get breast implants but didn’t have the funds to do so.
Levine discovered the site and it the whole premise caught her attention since it was a way for her to raise the money she needed for the operation.
After enough sponsors donated money towards Levine’s cause and she had collected the necessary $7,500 needed for her operation, she was able to fly to Los Angeles and see her doctor.
Free Doesn’t Equal Safe
Although getting others to help you financially get your procedure, surgeons still emphasize the importance of getting a board certified doctor to perform the surgery.
It’s essential for the patient to feel safe and comfortable with the surgeon and have all the information you need regarding the procedure and its risks to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

Botox is a Girl’s Best Friend?

Friday, February 15th, 2008

During holiday season men and women alike often opt to “up” their appearance in one way or another.

Whether they’re buying a new dress for the cocktail party of the week, getting those lashes they’ve always wanted for that special date or hitting the gym extra hard to prevent that those cupcakes from making a dent, the holiday season is a time to live lavishly.
And according to plastic surgeons throughout the country, the enhancements aren’t stopping at the beauty supply stores but are actually making their way onto the operating table.
The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Surgeons claim that 49 percent of the patients they receive come in because they’ve been given the gift of a breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, and other surgical procedures during the holiday season.
Although surgeons say Christmas time is the busiest, seeing as everyone likes to receive a little liposuction from their loved ones, they also claim that Valentine’s Day is quickly giving Santa a run for his money.
Valentine’s Day Boost
Reports state that more and more Americans are now showing their affection for one another by trading in their conversation hearts for some nipping and tucking.

“Valentine’s Day is about feeling good and feeling romantic. No one needs another pair of shoes or another handbag…getting something different like Botox or Juvederm makes you feel better from the inside out,” states a recent advertisement for getting your loved ones surgery for the special day.
Although this advertisement depicts the reality of the surgery craze that has hit our continent in the past decade, buyer beware, suggesting fuller lips or a new pair of breasts to your significant others might not go as smoothly as planned, so you many want to have the roses and diamonds on standby.

Defined Cheek Bones Grab Attention

Monday, February 11th, 2008

More and more cosmetic surgeries are being done yearly in America and everyone from Rodeo Drive to Madison Avenue is seems to be going under the knife to better their physical appearance. From breast augmentation to liposuction, both men and women have caught on to the plastic surgery trends and this high demand for perfection has brought about new techniques and procedures.

High Cheekbone Craze
Having high and defined cheek bones is the latest desire for those seeking to alter their appearance and injectable fillers are now available to help shape and plump the cheek area.
According to doctors, many patients want to mimic the facial features of celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes and Jessica Alba.
“What is happening now is that people are focusing on more than just the obvious areas like around the eyes, the smile lines or the forehead. They are noticing that their cheeks are rolling downwards and inwards as they age, and that something can be done about it,” explains Dr. Anna Guanche, a surgeon at the Bella Skin Institute.
How the Procedure Works
The procedure is a fairly simple one and unlike other facial surgeries, like the facelift, needs little to no recovery time.
During the procedure the patient receives one or two injections around the cheekbone area.
Depending upon the doctor, the injections are either administered through the face or the mouth.
“Those nice high cheekbones give the face an almond shape that’s very attractive,” says Dr. Bruce Katz from the Juva Skin and Laser Center.
Among the most popular fillers is Radiesse, which is FDA approved and made from calcium hydroxyapatite.

Brazilian Model Undergoes 42nd Surgery

Friday, February 1st, 2008

More and more people worldwide are getting plastic surgery these days as it becomes more acceptable in society. One woman in Brazil is taking cosmetic surgery to new heights as the rest of the world watches in awe.

Model Gets Ready for 42nd Surgery
Brazilian model Angela Bismarchi underwent her first cosmetic surgery in 1992 at the age of twenty-one.
After having her daughter she went under the knife for a breast augmentation and reportedly became addicted to surgery, and its results.
Since then, Bismarchi has undergone more than 40 surgeries and has become an instant celebrity in her native country because of her many surgeries and dramatic physical appearance.
Bismarchi is currently in the works to get her 42nd surgery, which is close to beating the world record for the most plastic surgeries performed on a person.
The current record holder, American Cindy Jackson, has had 47 surgeries.
Unique Eye Procedure
For her 42nd surgery Bismarchi is not going to get a common procedure such as rhinoplasty, liposuction or facelift.
Instead, she is going to have nylon wires implanted in her eyes to give them an oriental slant.
According to Bismarchi, her decision to make her eyes look Japanese is to celebrate and honor 100 years of Japanese immigration to Brazil.
