Top Surgeries in 2007

Friday, February 29th, 2008

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery recently reported that an estimated 11.7 million surgical and nonsurgical operations were performed in the United States in 2007.
They have supposedly been collecting procedural statistics since 1997 regarding plastic surgery in America and found that the number of procedures increased 457 percent since they began their investigation.
The Popularity of Breast Augmentation
According to the statistics gathered by the organization, liposuction and breast augmentation are the two most requested procedures by both men and women throughout the country.
2007, 399,440 Americans reportedly underwent breast augmentation surgery in just one year.
This procedure proved to be the most popular among women, while breast reduction ranked fourth on the list for the most popular procedures among men.

Helpful Surgery Tips

Seeing as plastic surgery is growing in popularity with Americans, doctors want to make sure that all necessary precautions are being taken by patients so that they get the best possible outcome from their surgery.
Some things to consider before having breast augmentation are:
•    Make sure that you have a board certified surgeon
•    Be sure that you aren’t going to have any more children
•    Research various types of implants, including shapes and sizes to make the best decision for your body

Camouflaging Surgery Marks

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

More than 11.5 million Americans reportedly underwent some type of cosmetic procedure in 2006. Among these men and women many of them may leave the operating room with enhanced breasts or a new nose, but to their dismay, some also are leaving surgery with incision marks.
For many, surgery can leave behind incision marks, bruising and swelling. However, if you’re looking for a way to hide the post-surgery marks and expose that flawless body? Well fear not, because a new camouflaging makeup can reportedly hide any marks left behind after your procedures.
A Makeup with the Most
Dr. David Broadway, a plastic surgeon in Denver, understands that the period of time after surgery can often be a difficult one for patients seeing as their bodies are transitioning and recuperating from the procedure.
Though he encourages his patients not to get discouraged or feel down when their bodies don’t initially look as they dreamed after surgery.
Instead, he says patients should seek out help from camouflage cosmetics to lessen and even hide those marks.
Dr. Broadway says that all patients can use this helpful technique no matter what their age and gender and still get the same benefits.
Consult Doctor Before Using
For patients who have undergone more serious surgeries such as liposuction or other body contouring procedures, Dr. Broadway suggests they consult their doctor before applying any makeup seeing as all stitches have to be removed until anything can be applied to the skin.
According to patients and doctors, concealers should be opaque and waterproof for the best results and should be applied gently so that there is no strain to the skin.
Color correctors can be used to lessen red and yellow skin and lavender and green tints are best for neutralizing bruising.

Getting the Body You Want

Friday, December 28th, 2007

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, liposuction was amongst the top five procedures performed on Americans in 2006. Reports show that 403, 684 patients went under the knife within the year.

Although liposuction has proven to be a safe and efficient way to alter the body’s shape, there are noninvasive alternatives for those looking to nip and tuck without the surgery.

Noninvasive Body Shaping

For women who are opposed to surgery and injections, noninvasive procedures offer less risks and minimal downtime.

Statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that minimally invasive operations increased eight percent to more than 9.1 million procedures in 2006 alone.

Growing in Popularity

Body shaping procedures are reportedly among the fastest-growing operations and are expected to continue to grow at an annual rate of 17.6 percent to almost 32 million by 2010.

In 2005, 69 percent of these procedures were supposedly attributed to liposuction treatments; however, doctors claim that there is a growing desire for noninvasive options.

Thermage

Thermage has come to be a popular procedure for patients who want to improve their look without going under the knife.

Thermage is a noninvasive procedure that helps tighten and contour skin for a younger looking appearance.

“Many of our patients see a decrease in abdominal girth, reduction in surface irregularity and improvement in skin texture and tightening,” says Gordon H. Sasaki, director of the Sasaki Advanced Aesthetic Medical Center.

Blogging About Celebrity Surgery

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Plastic surgery is all the rage these days, whether you’re the one who’s getting it or the one who’s gossiping about who’s gotten what done, the bottom line is, going under the knife has everyone talking these days.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, more than 11.5 million people in America underwent some form of cosmetic surgery during 2006. The ASAPS has reported that liposuction and breast augmentation surgeries are among the most requested by those looking to enhance their appearance.

Nowadays, more and more men and women who aren’t under the celebrity spotlight are getting nipped and tucked. However, I have to wonder, why is it that we, as the American public, are still eagerly waiting to hear about what starlit has had what done and why.
Blogging Around

Not only are the general public glued to their TV’s and spending their hard earned cash on weekly magazines, but surgeons are now feeding into the frenzy and the obsession.

Two world-renowned surgeons-to-the-stars recently launched a new celebrity blog where insider’s can get a first hand view into the world of celebrity plastic surgery. If this sounds like a little piece of heaven to you, then rest assured, you’re not alone. Surgeons, Richard Fleming and Toby Mayer, have reported that thousands of wannabe “insiders” have already visited the blog so they can clearly analyze Ashley Simpson’s new face and Heidi Montag’s admitted rhinoplasty.

Patient’s Looking to Mimic Images

The surgeons claim that for years they have seen their patients admire the looks of Hollywood’s elite and noticed a strong desire for them to look like the models, actors and the musicians they were being exposed to nightly on ET. Therefore, the doctor’s figured, why not provide a blog where future and past patients, along with those simply looking for a little celebrity gossip, can go to the blog and conversate with others about celebrity patients, view their pictures, and find out more information about surgeries and procedures available. I know what I’m doing tonight…discovering if Nicole really did get that gastric bypass surgery I’ve been reading about in the tabloids.

New Jersey Surgeon Offers Laser Lipo

Monday, April 30th, 2007

The fact that liposuction is the most sought after cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States probably has a lot to do with the rapid rate of technological advancement in lipo procedures. While traditional liposuction is far from obsolete, people are finding alternatives such as laser liposuction more and more attractive.

What is laser liposuction?

Laser liposuction incorporates laser technology into traditional liposuction procedures to enhance results and minimize recovery time. In contrast to traditional procedures that rely on the use of a suction tool known as a cannula to break up fatty deposits, lasers are used to liquefy the fat. This makes the procedure significantly less invasive than traditional lipo and also easier to recover from. An added benefit of laser liposuction is that the laser can be used to tighten loose and/or inelastic skin after the procedure.

Patients seeking cutting edge procedures like laser liposuction may have more difficulty finding a plastic surgeon willing and able to perform the relatively new procedure. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. William Boss of New Jersey is one surgeon who finds it important to offer his patients such procedures. Dr. Boss also offers various other liposuction options including the tumescent technique and power assisted lipoplasty.

When seeking out any plastic surgery procedure, prospective patients should only consider doctors who are board certified and who are skilled in the specific procedure.
