Quick Nose Fix
Friday, October 5th, 2007The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported that 141,912 people living in the U.S. underwent rhinoplasty surgery in 2006 alone. Since so many men and women seem to be going under the knife yearly to fix up the shapes of their noses, scientists have found a way for patients to see what a new nose may look like before they actually hit the operating room table.
By using the Hyaluronic acid-based, Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Radiesse, surgeons can now enable their patients to see what they may look like once the shape of their nose is haltered.
These injections can ensure patients and surgeons that they are making the right decision before rhinoplasty surgery.
How the Injectable Nose Job Works
When going in for an injectable nose job, patients can first expect that their surgeon will give them a topical numbing cream to minimize any discomfort that may occur when the injections are given.
The filler is injected into the depressions of the nose in order to smooth out any sharp angles or to change the angle on the tip of the nose, depending on the circumstance of the patient.
The results are typically visible within 15 minutes and there have been few reports of bruising.
Patients can expect the injections to leave their noses altered for about eight months to two years, depending upon the filler that is used.
Afterwards, surgeons claim that patients can better determine whether or not rhinoplasty is for them, or if they would rather stick with the natural shaping of their nose.
Getting the Right Surgeon
Although any physician can administer the injections, doctors claim that the procedure is extremely technique-dependent and will be most efficient when done by an experienced plastic surgeon or dermatologist.
