Defined Cheek Bones Grab Attention
More and more cosmetic surgeries are being done yearly in America and everyone from Rodeo Drive to Madison Avenue is seems to be going under the knife to better their physical appearance. From breast augmentation to liposuction, both men and women have caught on to the plastic surgery trends and this high demand for perfection has brought about new techniques and procedures.
High Cheekbone Craze
Having high and defined cheek bones is the latest desire for those seeking to alter their appearance and injectable fillers are now available to help shape and plump the cheek area.
According to doctors, many patients want to mimic the facial features of celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes and Jessica Alba.
“What is happening now is that people are focusing on more than just the obvious areas like around the eyes, the smile lines or the forehead. They are noticing that their cheeks are rolling downwards and inwards as they age, and that something can be done about it,” explains Dr. Anna Guanche, a surgeon at the Bella Skin Institute.
How the Procedure Works
The procedure is a fairly simple one and unlike other facial surgeries, like the facelift, needs little to no recovery time.
During the procedure the patient receives one or two injections around the cheekbone area.
Depending upon the doctor, the injections are either administered through the face or the mouth.
“Those nice high cheekbones give the face an almond shape that’s very attractive,” says Dr. Bruce Katz from the Juva Skin and Laser Center.
Among the most popular fillers is Radiesse, which is FDA approved and made from calcium hydroxyapatite.
