The Yoga Face
Men and women worldwide are constantly looking for that instant fix to alter their appearance, make it look more youthful, more alive. As the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports, 11.5 million Americans went under the knife for some nipping and tucking in 2006.
Of these millions, 138,245 patients received facelifts. For those who don’t want to endure a facelift procedure to rid their most looked at asset of excess fat, wrinkles and skin, new reports claim that yoga for the face can do wonders.
Exercising the Face
Yoga for the face you ask? Well according to Marie Nadeau, author of the book “The Yoga Facelift: The All-Natural, Do-It-Yourself Program for Looking Younger and Feeling Better,” by becoming aware of your facial habits and exercising the 190 muscles that exist from the neckup, everyone can achieve a more radiant face.
Just as yoga helps to strengthen and tone the muscles in your body’s core, yoga for the face claims to do the same, while calming and relaxing you mentally.
However, as with most things, there is a catch.
Plastic Surgery Still in the Running
Even though face yoga has been proven to strengthen and somewhat tone the face’s muscles, face yoga teachers do admit that for those looking for a complete face makeover, just doing yoga may not do the trick.
Face yoga, as with normal yoga practices, works the body from the inside out; therefore for those looking to diminish wrinkles and define their cheekbones, plastic surgery just might be the only easy “fix” available.
